Shin Memory Fragment 07

MEMORY FRAGMENT 07

Two Different Truths

Who should I believe?

Diary Entry

August 6

Today was my day off.

Shin was busy with prep school, so I thought it would be the perfect chance to look around my house for anything that might help recover my memories.

Just as I was about to start...

Ding dong.

...

Please don't tell me Shin skipped prep school again.

If he did, I'm seriously going to scold him.

I opened the door.

Thankfully...

It wasn't Shin.

It was Toma.

And another girl named Sawa.

According to Shin, she's one of my close friends.

We chatted for a while.

Listening to their conversation made me realize something.

Sawa was there during the accident too.

What exactly happened that day?

I wanted to ask Toma directly, but Sawa was here.

Shin specifically told me not to tell her about my amnesia.

...

Well.

That plan didn't last very long.

I carefully asked what had happened.

Sawa looked completely shocked.

Before she could ask too many questions, Toma smoothly stepped in and guided the conversation without revealing everything.

Good job, Toma.

Thanks to him, Sawa eventually accepted the situation without becoming too suspicious.

She explained that our group—including Shin, Toma, Mine, herself, and a few others—had gone on a short vacation to Shinano.

At some point, Shin and I went off for a walk together.

...

But Shin came back alone.

He was pale.

According to him, we had been fooling around when I accidentally stepped too close to a cliff...

And fell.

As she spoke, another memory flashed through my mind.

I remembered...

Shin finding me.

But then Sawa said something that completely contradicted it.

She told me it wasn't Shin who found me.

It was Ikki and Kent, two guests who had come on the trip with us.

...

I'm confused.

There's no way my own memory is wrong...

Right?

Then Sawa continued.

Apparently, after I regained consciousness, I desperately insisted that the accident wasn't Shin's fault.

The police had actually suspected him.

They thought he had intentionally pushed me off the cliff.

That's impossible.

Shin wouldn't do something like that.

I mean...

He's my childhood friend.

And...

Well.

He's my boyfriend.

If he were really guilty...

Would he have stayed by my side like this?

Would he have taken care of me every single day?

I just...

I can't believe he'd do something like that.

Sawa explained that because I kept insisting it wasn't Shin's fault, the police eventually released him.

Still...

He disappeared for an entire day afterward.

The police remained suspicious because our testimonies didn't match.

...

What really happened that day?

I thought this was just a simple accident.

But now...

It feels like there's a lot more to the story than I ever imagined.

I need to talk to Shin.

As soon as possible.
